Custom Molded Products For Quality Performance And High Productivity

Molds used to make rubber products have helped create specific products made of rubber which make other machines or implements more usable. At a very basic level, each mold is divided into two hollow parts, which when put together create the shape of the product that is to be produced. Since the rubber is poured in a liquid state into these molds, therefore there could be a chance of extra rubber overflowing, which is why such molds have overflow grooves cut out as well.

Once the mold is closed shut and the rubber has been cured adequately, the mold is opened and the product released. Since the grooves are continuous, hence the actual product would then need to be cut away from the part in the overflow grooves. Both the parts of the molds are kept one on top of the other and heated in order to complete the curing process.

Which Situations Warrant Compression Molding

Rubber parts are generally used as sealant to prevent loss of fluids or air. These rubber parts are used in O-rings, gaskets or seals. Such rubber parts which have an irregular shape can be easily manufactured with the help of custom molds. Custom rubber manufacturers often use molds to perfectly fuse rubber parts with metal parts or nonmetallic parts. Several manufacturing companies use custom rubber molds to create prototypes of parts that they plan to mass produce later.

Benefits of Rubber Molds

Greater Durability :

Rubber parts often crack with continued usage. If the shape and size of the rubber part is not perfectly aligned to the shape it fits on to, there will be more wear and tear of the rubber, leading it to last much lesser. But if the rubber parts are made using custom molds, then there will be a perfect fit resulting in much longer usage life.

Better Output :

The custom molded rubber products are manufactured with greater precision resulting in perfect fits, which gives a much better output in the machine where they are fitted.

Other Types of molded products

Custom molding is used in situations where high accuracy is needed, and only a few companies are able to achieve the high levels of accuracy and overall quality. But apart from custom molding, there are a few other popular methods of molded rubber manufacturing. These are a few of them :

1. Compression Molding : Before the mold gets into the press, the pre-forms of the mold have to be created. After this these pre-forms are subjected to high heat and pressure.
2. Injection Molding : A continuous flow of rubber is fed into a barrel with the help of an augur.
3. Injection Liquid Molding : Here the barrel delivers liquid of very high viscosity into the augur.
4. Transfer Molding : The molten raw material is placed into a cavity and a plunger is used to push the material into place.

The use of custom molder rubber products has helped improve the accuracy and quality of performance and also given longer lasting outputs.
